Hair colour try-on

See the colour against your own colouring first.

Hair colour is the change people regret most. Upload the shade you are considering and see how it sits with your skin and eyes — plus what it actually takes to get there.

How it works

  1. Upload the colour

A photo of the shade you want. We read the tone and depth, not just the name.

  2. Add your photo

So the colour is judged against your real colouring rather than in the abstract.

  3. See what it takes

How the shade sits with you, and the honest maintenance and process notes.

What you get

The full picture, not just the pretty part

  • How the shade reads against your skin tone and eye colour.
  • Whether it needs lifting first, and roughly what that means for your hair.
  • What the upkeep looks like — root regrowth, toning and how the colour fades.
  • A nearby shade that gets a similar effect for less commitment, when one exists.

Uptone adapts a look to your features. It never rates how you look, never calls a feature a flaw, and every classification it suggests stays editable by you.

Questions people ask

Will it tell me a colour is wrong for me?
It will tell you what a colour does against your colouring, and what it would take to wear it. It will not tell you that you are not allowed to want something.
How accurate is the colour?
Directionally accurate. Hair colour depends on your starting level and how your hair takes pigment, which a photo cannot fully predict — so we flag uncertainty rather than hide it.
Can I see it without changing my haircut?
Yes. Ask us to keep your hair length and shape, and only the colour changes.
