Try bangs before you make the cut.
Bangs are the cheapest haircut to get and the slowest to undo. Preview curtain bangs, a blunt fringe and wispy bangs against your real hairline and face shape, and make the decision while it is still reversible.

How it works
Loading preview…The adapted result, with your identity held steady Add your photo
Upload a clear, front facing photo with your hair off your forehead if you can, so the preview starts from your real hairline and forehead height, which decide which lengths are even possible.
Loading preview…A reference you can actually take to a professional Choose the fringe type
Name the style you are considering (curtain, blunt, wispy, side swept) and how long you would wear it: brow skimming or above the brow. If your stylist has suggested one type and you fancy another, preview both and take the comparison to the appointment.
Loading preview…A clear before-and-after preview on you Compare, then take it to the salon
Look at the preview against your whole face and your usual styling. Save the one you would still choose on a rushed morning, and add it to your Salon Card so your stylist sees exactly what you mean.
A bangs reference that is actually yours
- Each fringe type on your own hairline and face shape, at the length you would actually wear.
- A side by side with your current hair, so you can judge what the fringe takes away as well as what it adds.
- The same fringe at two lengths, because brow skimming and above the brow are different commitments.
- A saved preview for your Salon Card, so the salon conversation starts from a picture of you, not a celebrity photo.
The fringe has to suit your hairline, not just your face
Face shape gets the attention, but hairline decides whether bangs behave. A blunt fringe needs a fairly straight hairline and hair that lies flat; a strong cowlick or a very low hairline fights it every morning. Curtain bangs are the forgiving option: they part in the middle and blend into the rest of your hair. Wispy bangs sit between the two, a lighter touch that softens a forehead.
Where this struggles
It cannot predict how your hair will behave
The preview shows bangs lying as cut. It cannot show your cowlick lifting one side, your fringe separating by midday, or how your hair responds to humidity. If your hair is curly, wavy or very fine, ask your stylist how the style sits on your texture.
The grow out is not part of the picture
A fringe you love for a month still has to grow out, and the awkward middle stage lasts weeks. Curtain and side swept styles grow out gracefully; a blunt fringe does not. The preview answers whether bangs suit you, not whether you will enjoy maintaining them.

Questions people ask
- Curtain bangs or a blunt fringe: which is the safer first fringe?
- Curtain bangs, for almost everyone: they blend into longer layers and grow out without a hard line, so a mistake costs weeks rather than months. A blunt fringe is a stronger look and suits straighter hair and a straighter hairline, but it needs trims every few weeks. Preview both before you decide.
- Will bangs work with a cowlick or a low hairline?
- Sometimes, and the preview will show you the shape but not the behaviour. A cowlick at the front hairline tends to split a blunt fringe in the middle no matter how it is cut; curtain and side swept styles work with the split instead of against it. A low hairline leaves less room, which favours wispy or longer curtain styles; bring the preview to your stylist and ask the behaviour question directly.
- How long do bangs take to grow out if I hate them?
- Long enough to plan around. A brow length fringe typically takes several months to reach a length you can tuck behind your ears, and the stage where it pokes into your eyes arrives first. That timeline is the real cost of the cut.
