See the length on your own hands before the appointment.
A long almond set looks elegant on a salon hand and completely different on yours. Preview the exact length and shape on your own nail beds and fingers before you pay for extensions you may not live with.

How it works
Loading preview…The adapted result, with your identity held steady Add a photo of your hands
Use a clear photo of the back of your hand with your nails visible and your fingers relaxed, in plain light. Your nail beds set the starting point for any length, and the preview builds from them rather than from a model's longer beds.
Loading preview…A reference you can actually take to a professional Set the length and shape
Name the shape (almond, coffin, stiletto, tapered square) and how far past your fingertip you want the nail to reach. Between two lengths? Preview both. The jump from wearable to too much is usually one step, and it is easier to spot side by side.
Loading preview…A clear before-and-after preview on you Check your hands doing nothing
Look at the preview with your fingers relaxed, not posed. Long nails change how your hands look at rest, on a keyboard and holding a cup, not just in a posed photo. Save the length you would still choose on an ordinary Tuesday, and take it to your appointment on your Salon Card.
A long nails reference that is actually yours
- The exact length and shape on your own nail beds and fingers, not a salon model's hand.
- Two lengths side by side, so you can see where elegant tips into impractical for your hands.
- A side by side with your untouched photo, so only the nails change.
- A saved preview to take to your nail tech on your Salon Card, with the shape and length you settled on.
Length first, shape second
Length changes how your whole hand reads. Extra length makes short fingers look longer and slim hands look slimmer, but on already long fingers a very long set can look spindly rather than elegant. Shape decides the mood of that length. Almond softens it, a tapered square keeps it neat, stiletto is the sharpest and the least forgiving, and coffin sits between. The same small step up in length looks modest in one shape and dramatic in another, which is why judging from a salon photo on someone else's hand misleads. Uptone puts the length and shape on your own nail beds, so you judge the proportions you will actually wear.
Where this struggles
The preview cannot tell you how length feels
Typing, contact lenses, gym grips and opening cans all change with long nails, and none of that shows in a photo. Neither does breakage: how much length you can actually carry depends on the strength of your natural nails under the extension. Use the preview for proportion, then be honest with yourself about your week.
Your nail beds set the limit
Extensions start from your own beds. Short or narrow beds make the same length look longer and put more leverage on the free edge, which is where breaks happen. The preview respects your beds, so if a length looks strained on screen, it will feel strained in person.
Your photo stays yours.
Uptone edits your own photo rather than replacing you with a generic model. It never rates your appearance, and you can delete your photos whenever you choose.
Questions people ask
- How far past my fingertip should I start?
- If you have never worn length, start with a preview that reaches just past your fingertip before you try the dramatic versions. Most people who abandon long nails in the first week chose a length two steps beyond their daily life, not the wrong shape.
- Will long nails suit short fingers?
- Usually, yes. Length adds visual length to the finger, and a tapered shape like almond adds more. Preview a square and an almond at the same length: the almond will almost always make short fingers look longer, because the eye follows the point.
- Can I take the preview to my nail appointment?
- Yes. Save the version you chose on your Salon Card and show your nail tech the shape, the length past the fingertip and the colour together. It ends the appointment starting with a guessing game about what "long" meant.
Retouching is one half of what Uptone does. The other is trying a full makeup look on the same photo.
