Event looks preview

Build the whole look before the day.

Makeup, hair and nails can each look right alone and still clash together, or fight the outfit. Assemble the full look on your own photo, for the actual occasion, while there is still time to change your mind.

The original stays beside the edit, so you judge the tool on the same person, pose and camera angle.

The moving cards wipe between a real before and after. The still cards are finished looks, and the full strip scrolls continuously.

How it works

  1. Event looks before and after preview 2
The adapted result, with your identity held steady

    Add your photo

Use a clear, front facing photo in decent light, with your hair roughly as you might wear it. A top in your outfit's colour helps, because the look will be judged against it all day.

  2. Event looks before and after preview 3
A reference you can actually take to a professional

Name the occasion and build the look

Tell Uptone the event, the outfit colour and the elements you are settling: makeup first, then hair, then nails. Add one element at a time rather than all at once, so you can see which piece changes the balance.

  3. Event looks before and after preview 1
A clear before-and-after preview on you

Check the whole, then save it

Step back and judge the complete look rather than any single element. Save the version you would wear, and keep a softer backup if the event is long or the lighting will be harsh.

What you get

An event look reference that is actually yours

  • Makeup, hair and nails previewed together on your own face, not as three separate guesses.
  • The look judged against your outfit colour, so clashes show up now rather than on the day.
  • A stronger and a softer version side by side, so you can pick your appetite for the occasion.
  • A saved reference to work from at a trial appointment or on the morning itself.

The parts are easy. The combination is the decision

Most event regrets are combination problems. The lip colour picks up the wrong tone from the dress, the updo exposes earrings you had not planned for, the nails that looked subtle alone shout next to a dark outfit. Previewing one element at a time never shows you any of that. Uptone lets you build the look in one place on your own photo: makeup, hair and nails together, judged against the outfit colour you will actually wear. What survives that test is a look you can hand to an artist or stylist with some confidence.

Where this struggles

The light on the day is not the light on your screen

Venue lighting, evening light and camera flash all change how makeup reads. Flash in particular flattens colour and can wash out a soft look until it nearly disappears in photos. If the event will be photographed, lean toward the stronger version and let the trial confirm it.

Minute one is not hour six

The preview shows the look fresh. It cannot show how hair holds through an evening, how lipstick wears through a meal, or how nails look by the third day. Treat it as a plan for how the look starts, and build in the touch ups a long event will need.

Privacy by design

Uptone edits your own photo rather than replacing you with a generic model. It never rates your appearance, and you can delete your photos whenever you choose.

Questions people ask

I am going to a wedding. How do I test a look against my dress?
Wear the dress colour, or something close to it, in your photo, then build the look on top. Most clashes happen between lip colour and fabric colour, and they only appear when the two are in the same frame. If the dress is strongly coloured, compare the lip a step softer and a step deeper.
When should I do this, the week of the event or earlier?
Earlier. The value of the preview is the changes it triggers: a different lip shade, a booked trial, hair worn down instead of up. Do it with enough time left to act on what you learn, then use the saved look as the brief at the trial.
Can I change just one element of a saved look?
Yes, and that is the sensible way to refine it. Keep the hair and makeup and swap the nail colour, or keep everything and soften the lip. Changing one piece at a time shows you exactly which element was carrying the whole look, and which one was spoiling it.

Retouching is one half of what Uptone does. The other is trying a full makeup look on the same photo.
